JOE THRASHER Parts Ways With Bassist
September 7, 2008Bassist Gumby has left the Ottawa, Ontario, Canada-based metallers JOE THRASHER. "It was a decision that have been dwelling on for a few months now, and only just realized that the best course of action would be me to step down from the band," he writes in a statement. "There is no hard feelings with any of the guys in the band, they're all great guys, fun to hang with, and amazing musicians. I'll still be at the shows, and I'm still a huge fan of the music, My life is going through a big change, and this choice was sadly one that had to be made. I'm not sure what I will do, I'd like to stay in the metal scene, but at this time I have no plans on a new band, just jam with some friends. Thanx for making the past three years fuckin' amazing! I'll never forget them or any of the fans."
JOE THRASHER adds: "We've jammed a little with Scott (lead vocals) on bass and it was sounding killer. Scott's an all-round amazingly talented musician. He's decided to pick up where Gumby's left off as well as continue his vocal duties. Wait until you see/hear what's to come!!!"
The band continues, "The album is getting closer to being completed. The drums have long been finished, guitars and vocals are about 90% done. Scott's starting to quickly learn and rip out bass tracks. We're still anticipating releasing it this fall. Fingers crossed!"
JOE THRASHER's video for its cover of JOHNNY CASH's "Folson Prison Blues", retitled "Folson Prison Metal", can be viewed below. The clip features live footage of the band's April 4, 2008 performance at the Mavericks bar in Ottawa.
